Brix Group Orchard Project:

Te Puna Vertical Shelter

Project Details:

This Snodgrass Road orchard faced ongoing exposure to wind and unmanaged elevation changes that were steadily eroding the site. The lack of shelter left the kiwifruit crop vulnerable, while unretained banks were continuing to deteriorate, reducing usable space and creating long-term maintenance issues. The site needed a practical solution that would protect the crop, stabilise the land, and improve the overall functionality of the orchard.

Brix Group was engaged to install a vertical shelter system to reduce wind exposure and construct a series of retaining walls to stabilise elevation changes and stop further erosion. The work was planned to suit the orchard layout and existing infrastructure, with a focus on durability and long-term performance. The result is a more protected growing environment, stabilised ground conditions, and improved usable space across the block. The orchard now operates more efficiently, with infrastructure in place that supports both crop health and future management.
